Jenny Holzer's Survival Series Stickers in the LA Weekly
For the February 14th issue of the LA Weekly, Jenny Holzer designed stickers printed with aggressive slogans from her Survival Series, which first appeared in 1983. Stickers are disseminated to a broad audience within this print edition as a form of propaganda to
spark a reaction and propel you into an act of questioning with slogans such as:

THE BEGINNING OF WAR WILL BE A SECRET

DIE FAST AND QUIET WHEN THEY INTERROGATE YOU OR
LIVE SO LONG THAT THEY ARE ASHAMED TO HURT YOU
ANYMORE

The Hollywood/West Hollywood area will get an extra treat! Holzer's stickers will also be included in the February 21st issue.

Birdcalls (1972/2008) is an audio artwork by conceptual artist Louise Lawler that
transforms the names of famous male artists into a bird song, parroting names such as
Artschwager, Beuys, Ruscha and Warhol, “in an inspired mockery of conditions of
privilege and recognition given to male artists at that time.” The sound installation will
be audible in two locations on the Huntington’s grounds from February 9 through
March.

Louise Lawler’s Birdcalls is one part of Women in the City, a viral public art exhibition
that takes place throughout Los Angeles beginning February 9, 2008. The exhibition
features works by Lawler, Jenny Holzer, Barbara Kruger, and Cindy Sherman.
